Every morning, Dr. Parik Patel, BA, CFA, ACCA, Esq. — of all his credentials, he is most proud of “Dr.” — wakes up and sifts through his X feed. Then he checks his DMs (many from prominent folks in finance, such as Daniel Loeb and Bill Ackman), crafts witty responses, and prepares to dispense his signature blend of financial wisdom and Indian dad-style cultural commentary to his over 700,000 followers. The catch? He doesn’t exist.
Patel is a parody account that has become a fixture of FinTwit (financial Twitter), known for his unique ability to skewer both Wall Street and Indian stereotypes as well as his dubious stock tips (“just multiply by two”). He can’t help but comment on everything from market crashes to tech layoffs to Tesla bull runs. He remains anonymous (but we believe we spoke to him, or at least one of the people who co-runs the account) and most recently shot to fame for bragging about his fictional son Kashyap “Kash” Patel, Donald Trump’s nominee for FBI director, whom Patel lovingly calls “Kashu.” And this is his story.
